Embodying our founder, Dr. Richard E. Caruso's mission of mentoring, REC Studio produces local, original video content centered around the theme of mentoring, entrepreneurship, education, innovation, and technology.

Uncommon Individual Foundation
Founded in 1986, the Uncommon Individual Foundation is a nonprofit that promotes mentoring through 5 key programs: Entrepreneurship, Technology, Education, Media, & Corporate Mentoring. Our mission is to help our community achieve success through mentoring.

Our Team
Lucy Lopez

Lucy is a communications expert who brings more than 15 years of Journalism experience to UIF REC Studio.  Prior to launching the studio, Lucy worked as a reporter and anchor in Canada for CTV News in Northern Ontario and Corus Entertainment. Lucy worked in Toronto – Canada’s largest media market – for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), where she covered local and national stories for television, radio, and the web.  In addition to her accomplishments as a broadcast reporter and video journalist, Lucy worked behind the camera as a writer, producer, and editor.

Jacob Smolinski
Technical Coordinator
Jacob honed his love for film and cinematography at LaSalle University where he studied Mass Communications, produced shows for their TV Station, and directed a documentary nominated for a Mid-Atlantic Emmy. Most recently his short film, ‘College Graduate’ was screened in the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. Jacob brings his DIY know-how to UIF REC Studio.
